Different names can describe the same starting point.

Buyers use different language depending on their process and experience. The correct equipment still depends on the application.

Take-out robot

Part removal from the open mould

Usually a top-entry linear or Cartesian robot sized around the machine, mould opening, payload, vertical stroke and required hand-off.

Sprue picker

Simple runner or sprue extraction

A compact handling device for runner removal. It may be sufficient for a simple cycle, but saleable-part handling can require a servo robot and purpose-built EOAT.

Machine-tending robot

Robot coordinated with the press

A broader term that can cover part take-out, insert loading, unloading, inspection, trimming, assembly or packing around the moulding cycle.

Linear robot

Cartesian motion on straight axes

Common for fast, repeatable top entry. Axis count, wrist motion and servo control determine the orientation and downstream work available.

Six-axis robot

Flexible articulated handling

Useful where parts need complex orientation or secondary operations. Mould-entry time, guarding and floor space must be assessed against the required flexibility.

Automation cell

The complete working system

The robot plus tooling, interfaces, product flow, controls, guarding, validation, installation and handover required for reliable production.
